3 Important Facts
1. It is NOT necessary to have been pregnant for you to
breastfeed your baby.
- Mothers adopting a baby will be able to breastfeed.
- Mothers having a baby with the help of a surrogate will be able to breastfeed.
Breastfeeding is possible - you WILL be able to breastfeed your baby
The first thing you need to know is that it is possible for you to breastfeed your baby. Not only is it possible, it is fairly easy and chances are you will produce a significant amount of milk. It is different, though, than breastfeeding a baby with whom you have been pregnant for many months.
2. It is possible to exclusively breastfeeding your baby even though you never breastfed or stopped breastfeeding too early.
- Mothers who are combination feeding (part breastmilk and part formula) their baby will be able to build back a full milk supply.
- Mothers who have stopped breastfeeding their baby prematurely will be able to bring back a full milk supply.
- Mothers who initially choose not to breastfeed will be able to build up a milk supply.
Breastfeeding IS possible - you will be able to breastfeed your baby
No matter what the reason you originally chose not to breastfeed or introduced formula or stopped breastfeeding too early you will be successful exclusively breastfeeding your baby.
